To do a good job brushing, you need to make sure your getting all the areas. If your preference is a regular toothbrush, there is a specific way to be effective.
Additionally, there are other things you can do to make sure you are being effective at brushing. You can always make sure that you floss, try an electric toothbrush, and/or try a toothpaste that removes more plaque. Whitening toothpastes do not remove more plaque. That is a common misconception. Whitening toothpastes remove surface stain but sometimes leave the gritty mess under your gums. That is what I often find when give a dental cleaning to my patients. I have often found and have confirmed which toothpaste a person uses based on what I find under the gums. This is anyone. I found charcoal residue from a person using charcoal toothpaste, and I have found beads from the Crest HD whitening toothpaste trapped where the floss does not go.
If you want to make sure you are removing twice as much plaque, there are ways to identify the plaque. There are mouth rinses that they make for kids called Smartrinse by Listerine. This is great however that defeats the purpose of a daily mouth rinse. Mouth rinse is meant to be used after brushing and flossing. It is not meant to be used and then you brush, rinse or eat anything after for at least 30 minutes so that the Essential Oils have time to kill bacteria and the other ingredients have time to work.
The best product to remove dental plaque is the Plaque HD toothpaste. A little bit goes a long way. It is a toothpaste that will tint the plaque green so that kids and adults can brush it away easily. If you use it every day as your regular toothpaste and you still miss the areas because you are in a rush, it will not stain your mouth green. It is water soluble, and it won’t stain your sink either. I have tried rubbing it on my teeth as a test and going to bed. The green was easily brushed away in the morning.
