Steve Harvey again…

Today I was reminded to follow my dreams. I was told in these exact words, “Do not ignore your gift. Your gift is the thing you do the absolute BEST with the LEAST amount of effort.” Steve Harvey. I have a tiny obsession with him right now so bear with me. So hearing this from Steve Harvey’s book ignited a tiny passion in me to write another blog post.

On blog for writers there was a question meant  to spark creativity. Here it is:

“Prompts for writing – provided by Shirley Gutkowski.
PROMPT Topic #1

Gut starts at the lips ”

Here was my response:

Follow your gizzard follow your heart
If you truly believe it say it out loud and make it your reality. Too often we get stuck on what didn’t happen and lose focus of who we truly are. I say follow your gizzard. Like a bird that glides effortlessly through the air. Birds that migrate internally know where they are meant to go and they do” .

Can any of my creative friends come up with something unique? Do you know what movie this is from?

Writing those words on my keyboard I could picture the bird from Guardians as if I was watching in behind my eyes. Both times in the movie where the owl follows his gizzard, he seems to struggle at first to fly through his adversity (first the rain storm, then the forest fire), but then he seemed to effortlessly make it through. He saw the light, he saw his dream.

Alternatively I could write about your literal gut, and could have taken it another direction. I could take this as a kind advice. Anything I eat goes to my stomach, so lighten up on the dumplings.

Don’t be that bird sitting on the side line. Fly! If you have the guts, do it!
